Opened in 2002 and substantially expanded over the following two decades, Science City spans more than 200 acres with an IMAX 3D theatre, a Hall of Space exhibit, an Energy Education Park and a Robotics Gallery demonstrating humanoid and industrial robots. Its Aquatic Gallery, added in 2019, houses more than 180 marine and freshwater species from around the world in one of India’s largest aquarium complexes, alongside a Nature Park with butterfly and bird enclosures. The site draws heavily from school groups and families and ranks among the largest science-tourism destinations in western India. Science City sits at an elevation of 53 m and is typically explored in about half day. The most favourable months to visit are January, December, November, and February, when conditions are best suited for sightseeing. Other notable highlights include iMAX 3D film on giant dome screen, planetarium show on ancient Indian astronomy, and robotic dinosaur exhibit with moving jaws. It falls within Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad district, and Gujarat.

Most visitors spend around 3 to 4 hours exploring the main exhibits, the IMAX theatre, and the outdoor park. The complex is largely flat with ramps and lifts, and wheelchairs are available on request at the information desk, so it is comfortable for senior travellers who prefer a relaxed pace.
Yes, there is a reduced ticket rate for senior citizens (60 years and above) on production of a valid ID, and group discounts are offered for parties of 20 or more. It is best to check the official Science City website or call ahead for the current rates, as they update periodically.
The park opens at 10:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM (closed on Diwali and Holi), so arriving right at opening time lets you enjoy the indoor exhibits before the midday heat. For a cooler experience, plan to visit on a weekday and finish with the outdoor shows around 5 PM, when the temperature drops.
Prioritise the Hall of Science (with interactive physics and energy exhibits), the IMAX 3D theatre, and the outdoor Musical Fountain show in the evening. The robotic dinosaur park and the aquarium are also highlights, but you can take a small battery-operated shuttle inside the campus to reduce walking between zones.
There are several shaded benches and rest areas near the main halls, plus a cafeteria and snack kiosks serving vegetarian food and beverages. A first-aid room is available near the entrance, and staff are trained to assist if any visitor feels unwell.
