Named for the strong winds that regularly sweep across its exposed ledge, Hurricane Point offers one of the widest panoramas available from Chikhaldara’s hill station, looking out over the forested folds of the Melghat region below. Hurricane Point sits at an elevation of 659 m and is typically explored in about 1 hour. The most favourable months to visit are January, November, December, and October, when conditions are best suited for sightseeing. Other notable highlights include panoramic sunset over the Satpura valley, cool breeze at the cliff’s edge, and view of the Melghat Tiger Reserve forest. It falls within Amravati district and Maharashtra, India.

Hurricane Point is about 4 kilometres from the main Chikhaldara market, and the drive takes roughly 15 minutes on a narrow, winding hill road. You can hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw from town for a round trip, and it is best to go with a driver who knows the route, as there are no signboards at some turns.
Yes, the viewpoint itself is flat and easily accessible from the small parking area, requiring only a short, gentle walk. However, the edge has no high railings, so we recommend holding onto a companion or a walking stick, and avoiding the very edge on windy days.
Early morning (around 7 to 9 am) offers the clearest views of the valley and the Satpura ranges, with soft light and fewer crowds. Late afternoon is also good, but the wind picks up significantly by 4 pm, so carry a light jacket or shawl even in summer.
Wear comfortable, non-slip walking shoes and layered clothing, as the wind can make it feel much cooler than the surrounding area. Carry a water bottle, a hat or scarf for sun protection, and a light raincoat or umbrella if visiting between June and September, as sudden drizzles are common.
There are no permanent restrooms or food stalls at the viewpoint itself, so use the facilities at your hotel or at the nearby Chikhaldara town before coming. You will find small tea and snack vendors parked near the entrance during peak season, but they may not be open on weekdays or off-season.
