Far less visited than Kodaikanal despite sitting in the same general range, Sirumalai’s slopes are planted with orange, coffee and jackfruit, and a modest viewpoint near the summit looks out over the Dindigul plains, making it a low-traffic alternative for a short hill escape. Sirumalai sits at an elevation of 1141 m and is typically explored in about half day. The most favourable months to visit are February, December, January, and March, when conditions are best suited for sightseeing. Nearby points of interest include Sirumalai Murugan Temple, Sirumalai Falls, and Sirumalai Reserve Forest Watchtower. Other notable highlights include walk through orange orchards on the hill slopes, sunrise view from the Sirumalai viewpoint, and visit the ancient Kottai Mariamman Temple. It falls within Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu, India.

Yes, there are a few eco-resorts and farm stays, like the Sirumalai Hill Resort and private bungalows, which offer basic but clean rooms with attached bathrooms. Most provide home-style Tamil food, but book in advance as options are limited and fill up fast during weekends.
The area is very peaceful and low-crime, but medical facilities are basic—only a small primary health centre exists, so carry your regular medicines and a first-aid kit. Mobile connectivity is patchy (BSNL works best), and the nearest good hospital is in Dindigul, about a 45-minute drive down the ghat.
Sirumalai is about 25 km from Dindigul town, and the last 12 km are steep, winding ghat roads that require a slow, careful drive. You can hire a private taxi or an auto-rickshaw from Dindigul; it is doable for seniors if you take breaks, but those prone to motion sickness should carry medication.
The key spots are the Sirumalai viewpoint, the ancient Kottai Mariamman Temple, and the scenic banana and coffee plantations. These involve uneven paths and steps, so they are not fully wheelchair friendly; however, you can enjoy the views from the car at many points, and the temple has a gentle slope.
The ideal time is from October to March, when the hill station’s temperature stays between 15°C and 25°C, making it pleasant for sightseeing and walks. Avoid April to June, as it gets hot and humid, though evenings are still cooler than the plains.
