Day 01: Arrival in Trivandrum – Transfer to Kanyakumari & Local Sightseeing
Morning:
Arrive at Trivandrum International Airport or railway station, where you will be greeted and transferred to Kanyakumari. The journey is a scenic drive of approximately 110 km, taking around 3.5 hours.
Afternoon:
Upon arrival in Kanyakumari, check into your hotel and refresh. Begin your sightseeing tour by visiting the Padmanabhapuram Palace, an ancient wooden palace that reflects traditional Kerala architecture. Continue to the Suchindram Temple, famous for its intricate carvings and musical pillars.
Evening:
Visit the iconic Vivekananda Rock Memorial, situated on a small island just off the coast. The memorial honors Swami Vivekananda, who meditated here in 1892. Next, head to the Thiruvalluvar Statue, a massive stone sculpture of the famous Tamil poet and philosopher. Enjoy the mesmerizing sunset at the southernmost tip of India, where the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean meet. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kanyakumari.
Day 02: Kanyakumari to Rameswaram via Thiruchendur
Morning:
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive towards Rameswaram. On the way, visit the Thiruchendur Murugan Temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal. The temple is renowned for its unique location and religious significance.
Afternoon:
Continue your journey to Rameswaram, covering a distance of approximately 320 km (7 hours). Upon arrival, check in at your hotel.
Evening:
Visit the famous Pamban Bridge, which connects Rameswaram Island to the mainland. The bridge offers stunning views of the surrounding waters and is an engineering marvel. Explore the Ariyaman Beach if time permits, known for its serene environment and calm waters. Overnight stay at the hotel in Rameswaram.
Day 03: Rameswaram to Madurai – Temple and Historical Tour
Early Morning:
Begin your day with a sacred darshan at the Ramanathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India. The temple is famous for its long corridors and ornate pillars. After the temple visit, take a holy dip at Agni Theertham, a sacred water body adjacent to the temple.
Mid-Morning:
Explore Dhanushkodi, the ghost town at the southeastern tip of Pamban Island, known for its mythological significance as the starting point of Lord Rama’s bridge to Lanka. Visit the Gandhamadhana Parvatham, the highest point on the island, offering panoramic views and believed to be where Lord Rama’s footprint is imprinted on a chakra.
Afternoon:
Check out from the hotel and proceed to Madurai, which is about 180 km (4.5 hours) away by road. Upon arrival, check into your hotel.
Evening:
Visit the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple, a historic temple dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi and her consort Lord Sundareswarar. Explore the temple’s intricate architecture, towering gopurams, and the thousand-pillared hall. If time allows, visit the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace, a 17th-century palace known for its grand architecture and light & sound show. Overnight stay at the hotel in Madurai.
Day 04: Madurai Sightseeing & Departure
Morning:
After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Explore Madurai at your own pace. You can visit the Koodal Azhagar Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and the Gandhi Memorial Museum, which chronicles the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi.
Afternoon:
If time permits, visit the Alagar Kovil, a temple located at the foothills of Alagar Hills, or take a stroll through the Madurai Flower Market, one of the largest flower markets in South India.
Evening:
Transfer to Madurai airport or railway station for your onward journey, marking the end of your tour.
